Roseline's Tea Party raises urgent funds for her Zimbabwe Children's Charity

One inspiring afternoon in Twickenham

Zimbabwean music and dancing by traditionally built ladies was the order of the day at the fund raising event for the Ndoro School Project held in May.  The buffet was overloaded with specialities that can now only be purchased in South Africa due to the overwhelming level of inflation that is rife in her homeland.  For many of the people these foods brought back memories of their childhood which had been spent in a land that was known as the “bread basket of Africa”.

Roseline is pursuing her dream of building a school for the orphaned children of her  village and her church supported her in her endeavours.  With their help and her continued enthusiasm she managed to raise £980 on the day.  This sum will be put to good use.

There was a silent auction for a hamper of Zimbabwean specialities plus stalls selling second hand books; traditional handicrafts, homemade greetings cards and beauty products.  Soon the sound of satisfied customers rang out around the hall and the serious business of taking money to support this good cause was underway.

Roseline gave a very moving speech on the plight of these little people who need a way out of the poverty and despair that has been brought about by Aids and economic depression.  Grandparents are trying their best to give the children some sort of stability but the task is an uphill struggle and more is needed to kick-start their lives.

Education - the way out of poverty

Education is the way out of poverty and the nearest school is fifteen miles away.  This school is now finding it difficult to continue due to lack of money and sponsors are needed to help Roseline to continue her good work to provide facilities nearer home.
For the small sum of £10 a month a real difference can be made on the local level with children who are known to Roseline and her family.

Roseline is lucky in having the support of her children as they make their way in the western world.  They do not forget the people who are less fortunate than themselves and are working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of these people and they have pledged a percentage of their salaries each month.

179 orphans are living a hand to mouth existence with no access to education and the Ndoro project will give them a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.

Roseline is off to USA in June to work with her daughter who lives there  - they will be organising fund raising events in New York to raise awareness.

July will see the official launch of the charity which has been set up and this event will be held at the Houses of Parliament - arranged by Vince Cable, deputy leader of the Liberal Party, who has agreed to become the official sponsor. More events are planned for later in the year.

Official Launch

The launch of Ndoro Children’s Charities took place in the Jubilee Room at The House of Commons on Thursday 10th July 2008. The event was hosted by the Right Honourable MP and Charity Patron, Vincent Cable.

This launch signified the first step towards saving the lives of many young and innocent children in deprived third world countries, with the initial focus on Zimbabwe. Please see: www.ndorocc.org
