Retirement

Are you stuck in a rut?

Are you stuck in a rut?

A life coach could help you define and realise your dreams

Sometimes we need professional help to move us forward in life to achieve what we want to achieve.

If you're doing the same thing everyday, are bored or jaded by the 'same old', 'same old', maybe it's time to take a step back and get some perspective.  Easy to say but not so easy to do you may say. Well, it may not be as hard as you think, especially with a helping hand to take you through manageable steps to see clearly where you are now and where you want to be in the future.

Dare to dream

You may want to spend more time with your family and friends, you may be retired and want to re-invigorate yourself with new interests and goals. You may want to grow the most amazing blooms or go on a holiday of a lifetime but need help with money management. Or you might want to meet a new partner but struggle to find the right person for you. Whatever it is, a life coach may be just the help you need to achieve your dreams.

What is a Life Coach and How can they Help You?

A life coach is someone who helps you take control of your life; someone who helps you to make your dreams a reality. They can empower you to make positive changes to improve your life or maybe just certain areas such as relationships, careers and confidence for example.

Finding a Way

It can be so easy to loose direction in life and a life coach will help you take a step back allowing you realise what you want to be doing with your life.

Life coaching involves exploring your attitudes, beliefs and values and discussing your aims in life. The life coach will then help you set realistic goals in order for you to achieve your aims.

There are Many Ways

The areas that life coaches can help you with are so varied that it would be impossible to list them all in this article. For example, you may have always dreampt of running your own business but never actually got around to doing it. This could be for lots of reasons - financial, confidence, business knowledge, self belief or current employment.

Whatever the reasons, a life coach would help you set out a plan in order for you to set up your business. Small achievable goals, that on their own don't seem too daunting. Working together your dreams may soon be achieved.

Areas to look at

Here's a brief description of some of the main areas life coaching can help, and how:

Career - Life coaching helps you to explore who you are and what you want from your job, and in turn it helps you find out what you’ll need, making it easier to find your perfect career. Anyone could benefit from Career Coaching from school leavers or those at the height of their careers and those about to retire. On average we spend 8 hours a day at work, so why be miserable?

Confidence and Self Belief - Life coaching offers you different techniques for developing your confidence and self-belief. A life coach will raise your self-image and help you see yourself in a much more positive light. Life coaching will help you realise why your confidence and self belief levels were low at the beginning.

Relationships – Life coaching helps you realise what your version of the 'perfect' relationship is. No two relationships are the same, so everyone expects different things from their partners, friends or family. Life coaches can help with current relationships, relationships that have broken down or help you find new relationships. By using your own thoughts, fears and ideas a life coach will give you a personalised plan.

Stress – Stress is all too common in today's world and understanding why you are suffering from stress is always the first step. By realising your own stress threshold you can identify when and why stress occurs. A life coach can help you realise this and make a plan with you to deal with those stress inducing situations.

So what happens in a Life Coaching session?

Typically sessions last round 45 to 60 minutes but this varies depending on the individual life coach. Consultations normally happen face to face but many life coaches offer coaching over the phone, or email / online coaching (this normally means using instant messaging services such as MSN messenger or SKYPE).

In your first session a life coach will talk to you about your aims and goals; together you will decide on the best form of action and make goals for you to work towards.

A life coach will work with you but it's up to you to challenge your current ideas so you can make progress with your life. A good coach will never force you to make decisions that you are not comfortable with. The sessions between you and your coach will be confidential so you can talk about your feelings and thoughts in private.

Forming a Partnership

In order for life coaching to work you will form a partnership and it is therefore important to find the right life coach for you. As with most people not all life coaches are the same, they offer different areas of expertise, different training and different prices.

So how do you find the Right Life Coach for You?

A great place to explore different life coaches is Life Coach Directory. They offer a network of life coaches from all over the UK, all of whom are fully insured and qualified, or a member with a professional body (a body that regulates the Life Coaching industry, making sure all their members adhere to there values of professionalism). Finding a professional life coach locally couldn't be easier, just type in your postcode, town or county and then you'll be presented with a list of life coaches in your area. You can read more information about each life coach and access their contact details by clicking on their name or picture.
