South Africa has sites such as Aliwal Shoal, Sodwana Bay and Protea Banks which are frequently being voted into the favourite 5 dive sites of the global SCUBA diving community.
Because of this if you are a diver it would be a real shame to holiday in South Africa without enjoying some of the diving.
Surf and Turf can offer a 7 night SCUBA package that can run just before a 14 night package: South African Adventure - Safari and Exploration; meaning that you can combine the two trips together to make the most of your time in the country. Alternatively if you have limited time you could enjoy this 7 night trip as a stand alone package, the possibilities are endless!
You will be picked up from Durban International Airport and transferred to the small coastal town of Umkomaas, where you can spend the afternoon relaxing and exploring the local area.
Your first dives in South Africa! Today includes two morning dives at the gorgeous Aliwal Shoal, with breakfast usually occurring between the two dives back at the Dive Centre. The rest of the day is spent reminiscing over the morning dives, relaxing or exploring Umkomaas.
Today consists of a morning dive and afternoon baited shark dive, hopefully with good sightings of tiger sharks and other larger fish. Please note that days 2 and 3 may be switched around if the conditions make this safer and more sensible - the dive centre will organise this and advise us of the plan.
One last morning dive before moving on to Sodwana Bay. There will be a lunch stop along the way during this transfer, and once at Sodwana Bay the rest of the day is free to relax and explore.
Two morning dives based from the glorious golden sandy beaches that make up the world famous Sodwana Bay, diving either 2, 5, 7 or 9 mile reefs. The rest of the day is free for you to do as you wish. If enough people are in the mood for exploring we can spend the afternoon in and around Lake Sibaya. Here we can bird watch, relax and snorkel off the coast before enjoying sundowners of choice whilst watching the sun set over the tranquil ocean.
One morning dive followed by a break for lunch. In the afternoon you may partake in an exciting quad biking session over the sand dunes that make up Sodwana Bay.
Two morning dives followed by a free afternoon where you can explore the many local sites and activities or simply relax around the pool back at the Lodge.
After a relaxed breakfast it will be time to leave Sodwana Bay and return to real life. You will be transferred back to Durban International Airport and will arrive at approximately 3pm. If you are booked only on to our SCUBA diving package this will be your journey home, or if you are continuing your adventure with us you will get an internal flight back to Johannesburg and spend the next two nights at our African hotel waiting for the other guests to arrive.
Whether you are travelling with your partner or on your own, you can make new friends and enjoy this shared, life enhancing experience. Prices per person will depend on size of the group. Find out more details from kathy@surfandturfsafaris.com
