Italian Food & Wine Tours

A Culinary Journey

Italy is land with a unique gastronomic tradition that makes it the world famous for its food and wines. Pasta, pizza, chianti and salami are known everywhere but there is so much more to discover in this land that has made eating into an art.

MySpecialGuest have a range of specialised Food and Wine Tours designed for you to experience the delights of a true culinary experience.

Visit Perugia where the famous chocolates are made, Bacci (or kisses); cherries soaked in liqueur and draped in the finest chocolate; nuts made into melting wonders to delight the soul.

Go on to taste the wines of the chianti region and visit the historic city of Siena with its vast piazza which houses the famous horse race which takes place each summer between the rival districts of the city – the Palio. You can almost hear the pounding of the hooves and the shouts of the crowd.

Fine Wines Tasting in Tuscan Cellars

Visit the Tuscan town of San Gimignano with its tall towers that were built by the rich merchants of the city to proclaim their wealth to the world. This is the town that was used for the filming of the climax of Tea with Mussolini. Its cobbled streets with shops selling souvenirs that will delight you. You can visit the wine cellars with tastings laid on accompanied by cheese and “bruschetta”.

Florence is the highlight of any tour to this part of Italy with the beautiful Arno river winding through its centre crossed by the famous Ponte Vechio. For hundreds of years the silversmiths and jewellers plied their trade here and you can still purchase gifts from the small shops crowded onto this historic site. You can take a gourmet tour which includes ice cream and a stop at a typical pastry shop where you will savour the aroma of coffee and cakes.

Cookery Lessons?

Arrangements can be made to take cookery lessons at the best cooking school in Florence. Moving on to the Emilia Romagna region you will find a land famous for its pasta, piadina and tortellini. You can visit Bologna a beautiful city of the region with a historic past.

Modena is the area of the balsamic vinegar production which is now so popular in England. Here the local guides will tell you how it is produced and you will be able to visit the Acetaia where you will see barrels dating back to the 1700s. You will also get a chance to taste and purchase the products.

No visit to Italy would be complete without visiting the world famous factory of the Parmigiano Regiano. This is the king of the cheeses and here you will discover the processes going into the making of the cheese and enjoy a tasting accompanied by a glass of Lambrusco which is a typical wine of the region.

Buon Appetito!

When you have experienced all the delights of these regions you can call yourself a real gourmet! Buon appetito!
