Taking up a new hobby can be energising. I've noticed women friends in their fifties, sixties or older really enjoy returning to some of the crafts they loved when they were younger. This applies in particular to friends who have retired and have more free time and who have returned to crocheting, knitting, embroidery, sewing, painting or writing. Not only do they love what they are doing but they are also producing some wonderful work.
Hobbies are something we choose to do rather than have to. Hobbies can bring balance into our lives and give us the opportunity to express ourselves freely and in a way that maybe we couldn't at work or when bringing up a family. So hobbies are to be cherished. A hobby can be anything from arts and crafts to Yoga, or hiking to undertaking a degree course in later life.
