Bill Oddie's New Autobiography

"One Flew into the Cuckoo's Egg"

Bill Oddie has been called "Britain's best known birdwatcher". His passion for birds and wicked sense of humour have kept millions entertained for decades. Yet in his 60th year he had his first clinical depression. And only recently has he discovered why.

A real story to tell

Bill Oddie's new autobiography is as witty, candid and unconventional as the man himself. He has a real story to tell. He has been a sufferer from depression for many years and the roots of it are in his childhood. His mother was committed to a mental asylum when he was a small child and he writes very movingly and candidly about the impact this has had on his life. However, this is not a depressing memoir. It is as entertaining as the man himself.

A national treasure, Bill Oddie was the star of the biggest comedy hit of the 70s - the Goodies.  He is now the UK's favourite wildlife presenter regularly fronting Springwatch and Autumnwatch which has a daily audience of over 4 million viewers. The new series of Autumnwatch will begin on 25 October.

He performed in the Cambridge Footlights with some of the greatest comic talents of his generation, including John Cleese, Jonathan Miller and fellow Goodies. He has had a fascinating and varied life and he writes about it with wit and candour.
