How Electronic Cigarettes Changed My Life

How Electronic Cigarettes Changed My Life

by Mel Castle

Do you remember when we were growing up and almost every adult smoked and we wanted to be like adults so we also smoked?

We could smoke anywhere, in pubs, clubs, shops, cinemas, bingo, airplanes, public transport and anywhere else we fancied.

Well that's all changed, now you can't smoke anywhere except your own home or car and quite rightly so. For years we've been told how smoking tobacco can damage your health and others around you, and it can, but many of us over the age of fifty are happy with our addiction and don't want to stop. The first drag of the day after you get out of bed, a good cough to clear the pipes then downstairs for that first cup of tea or coffee and another ciggie - heaven!

Technology can help

But don't despair technology has solved our problem. Now you can smoke legally wherever you like without affecting anybody around you just by using an electronic cigarette and, if you want to, you can use them as an aid to stop smoking completely.

So how do they work?

They look, feel and smoke just like a real cigarette except there is no burning of tobacco. The electric cigarette comes in three parts a rechargeable battery, atomizer and cartridge (filter). When you puff on the cigarette an LED light in the tip lights up and the battery heats the atomizer, this in turn heats the purified nicotine e-liquid in the cartridge, when you breathe out it is just harmless water vapour which disappears into the atmosphere in seconds, so there is no carbon monoxide smoke that could cause secondary health problems for the people around you. In addition there is no yellowing of teeth, smelly hair or clothing, no brown fingers, dirty room furnishings or car ceilings, no ashtrays full of dog ends and as there is no lighted end, no chance of burning down the house.

The fact that the nicotine liquid used is purified means it contains none of the 4000 or so harmful substances, including acetone, aluminium, cyanide, arsenic, formaldehyde, lead, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia, ethanol, tar and chloroform found in tobacco, a nasty blend to be sucking into anyone’s lungs.

Quit and save money

In addition they also provide huge savings compared to conventional cigarettes with an average saving of about 80% for a person that smokes a pack of 20 per day, which equates to a saving of approximately £40 per week or over £2000 pounds per year.

What could you do with that? At least fill up the car with petrol every week for FREE.
If you want to quit smoking completely they are a great aid as the nicotine can be bought in a variety of flavours and strengths including zero, so a smoker could gradually reduce their intake of nicotine over as long a period as they feel comfortable with. Cancer Research UK have said, "For a smoker, the health hazards of continuing to smoke greatly outweigh any potential risks of using nicotine replacement therapy”
