The menopause is often a tumultuous time in a woman’s life. It usually strikes from the age of 45, but can start as early as 35.
At least 80% of women suffer some unpleasant symptoms – ranging from hot flushes, insomnia and anxiety through to urinary problems and weight gain. With increasing concern over the use of HRT, many women are turning towards alternative, natural remedies to help manage their symptoms.
LadyMel Day and LadyMel Night are two new products, made by honeybees, designed to provide a natural solution to the often unpleasant and unwelcome symptoms of the menopause.
The clever LadyMel bees are fed a diet of powerful plants that all have known healing and soothing properties. The active ingredients of the botanicals then enter the honey the bees produce, resulting in a natural supplement containing the combined and enhanced healing health benefits of the individual herbs.
• Alfalfa (Day and Night) – a natural antiseptic, this herb is traditionally used to tackle problems relating to menstruation and menopause
• Red Clover (Day and Night) – popular in traditional herbal medicine to tackle a variety of problems including the menopause due to oestrogenic properties of the leaves
• Agnus Castus (Day and Night) – traditionally used to balance the system and is particularly potent in addressing hormone imbalances
• German Chamomille (Day and Night) – tackles stress, unease and acts as a carminative
• Siberian Ginseng (Day) – used traditionally to boost energy, ideal for those with disrupted sleep patterns
• Peppermint (Day) – traditionally used as a general tonic, this cools the system through vasodilation (expansion on the blood vessels allowing cooling)
• Purple Passionflower (Night) – commonly used to combat insomnia, it also soothes nervous system tension, unease and PMS
• Common Hop (Night) – widely used in traditional medicine to tackle a variety of problems including mood changes and stress as well as being used as a sedative
LadyMel Day and LadyMel Night are the latest products in the LifeMel range, which is the result of 30 years research into the beneficial properties of honey.
The researchers discovered that bees feeding on plants with medicinal properties would produce a honey containing healing benefits. Furthermore they realised that when bees ‘process’ this herbal mix, by adding enzymes in the hive, it intensifies the active properties of the herbs and plants, making them more effective.
It also puts these actives into a pre-digested format making them very easy for the body to absorb.
Each variety of ‘functional honey’ in the LifeMel range is designed to help different conditions, and is made by feeding bees a specific and unique blend of medicinal plants and herbs, resulting in tailored natural supplements containing the combined health benefits of the individual herbs.
