Roseline Ndoro - A Woman with Passion

Roseline Ndoro - A Woman with Passion

The next episode in this true and remarkable story

When most people reach 55 they are thinking of retirement and whilst some people buckle under life’s problems, others go on to achieve greater things. Rosaline Ndoro - founder of the Ndoro Children’s Charity - is one of those people who inspire all those who meet her; for she has had major problems thrown at her and has overcome them all.

We covered Roseline's story last year (click to read article) and have caught up with her again to find out what is happening.

Autumn 2010

Now fully recovered from breast cancer and in the final year of getting her degree in Charity Management, Rosaline is ready to start the school in Zimbabwe that she has been dreaming about for so long. She and her late partner Peter, had planned this together but his tragic loss meant that she has to do it alone.

Her children have stepped into the breach as Rosaline’s son, Ronald, has now joined her in fund raising and September this year will see them starting the teaching programme in the district that her family came from in Zimbabwe.

Village elders back the Project

Problems with land registry of the farm that she grew up on and finding her way through the bureaucracy that stifles Zimbabwe’s growth today, she has now got the backing from the village elders and the local community. At first they were suspicious of this passionate black woman coming from England offering help but they are now totally behind the project that will see their children benefitting from the generosity of friends and people around the world.

No one can cease to be impressed by this lady’s passion for education. Rosaline’s father had always said that education was the way out of poverty and she is adamant that the children of Africa should get the chance to grow to their full potential.

Rosaline’s daughter, Shingie, who lives in New York, has registered Ndoro Children’s Charity there and is now working with people in the USA to raise money to maintain the momentum of her mother’s personal crusade.

The charity is in the process of building the accommodation block that will house the volunteers and teachers who will make this school possible and a volunteer programme is being set up. Working in conjunction with the Imire Safari Ranch, that is located close by, they will provide experience to volunteers who will be able to work on the ranch and also assist in the creation of school.

Making Friends and Contacts

The Imire Safari Ranch is heavily involved in the Black Rhino conservation programme and Judy Travers is now on the Board of Trustees. As an experienced Africa hand she knows the ropes and how to get things done. She, and her husband John, have survived the Mugabe years and have turned their farm into a haven for animals and visitors alike. This ranch gives people a unique opportunity to see, at first hand, the work being done on the ground to help these magnificent animals. (For more information see www.imiresafariranch.com)

Energy, direction, momentum!

At the end of July Rosaline returned to Zimbabwe to check on progress and to keep the momentum going. They have appointed a project manager from Harare to oversee the building programme and work will start on planting a bio-fuel crop which will help to finance this ambitious project day to day. This is a project that GiddyLimits will follow over the next year and we hope that readers will give generously to this worthy charity.

As well as working in Africa, Ndoro Children’s Charity are involved with a club in north London that helps young black boys to find a purpose and provide a stable place for them to spend their spare time.
