Coming Home - A Short Film

Coming Home - A Short Film

By Anne Chambers

Coming Home is a good-news story of one woman’s journey to recovery from breast cancer.

The screenplay

It evolved out of a short story written by author Anne Chambers which was previously short-listed for the Irish Hennessy Literary Awards.

The inspiration

At the time of writing the story a friend of Anne’s was diagnosed with breast cancer. ‘I saw her set out on her journey to recovery, firstly trying to come to terms with the diagnoses and treatment. Along the way her fears, her bravery in the face of  the many painful stages, her unselfishness as she strove to maintain as normal a  life as possible for herself and her family, her determination to get better, how her fear dissolved into hope, was truly inspirational. Coming Home reflects her story as it does the story of countless other women.’ Anne Chambers.

The Film

Coming Home (14 minutes) was produced by Tile Films Ltd. “I was very moved by Anne’s story and immediately agreed to support the project. We put together a team of top class film professionals all of whom were committed to producing a film with the highest possible production values.” Dave Farrell – Tile Films

The Cast

Coming Home is directed by Lisa Mulcahy and the lead role is played by Tony-nominated and IFTA award-winning actress Dawn Bradfield.

Access

Coming Home is now available free on the internet to any organisation/group/individual who wishes to avail of it to use as a support tool in spreading the message of early detection and positivity in the fight against breast cancer.

The film can also be used by women’s groups/societies/book clubs etc as a way to raise funding for local breast cancer organisations.
