Great place to visit and fabulous places to eat out. So perhaps it is a good thing that I live in London - otherwise I would have to upsize my wardrobe.
Just returned from the Brecon Beacons. Stayed in a fabulous cottage supplied by www.breconcottages.com/. Great choice of accommodation to suit all budgets. Really helpful staff who have experience of area and full of good advice.
First really good find was www.peterstone-court.com/ A real value for money find. Set lunch was £13 including a glass of very acceptable wine.
Next great place was their sister restaurant in Crickhowell www.manorhotel.co.uk/. Same great deal on set lunches.
For a really good value for money lunch - try The Courthouse in the centre of Crickhowell. Homemade quiches to die for a Cauliflower Cheese that gives you a taste of home. Always make it a stop over after driving from London. Lots of delicious homemade cakes to tempt us.
If you want to spoil yourself then book in for a meal at www.the-white-swan.com/ The tiny village of Llanfrynach is tucked away at the bottom of the Beacons and deserves a visit.
Another favourite of ours is The Cider Mill Nant y Fin - near Crickhowell. Great food and good atmosphere. www.cidermill.co.uk/ Now doing homemade cakes for an afternoon treat.
Pushing the boat out? Then book in for lunch or dinner at The Walnut Tree Inn, outside Abergavenny. www.thewalnuttreeinn.com/ This is a very special place which lives up to the hype.
